What The Holy Spirt Taught Me This Morning
Pastor Amos Dada PhD; P.Eng.
“He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;”Psalm 104:14
The Psalms are rich in praise, worship and magnifying God. When you lack the right words to praise God I advice you to turn to the psalms. Also tucked in the Psalms are salient words of encouragement that if you are able to assess or to distill as rhema word, could be a pivotal platform to make your life move forward in a special way.
Such is the word the Holy Spirit gave me today – He causes the grass to grow!
What is giving you concern. What do you expect to grow and looks stunted?
What does it mean to grow! A living thing undergoes natural development by increasing in size and changing physically. Progressing to maturity. Become larger or greater.
That scripture is saying as much as you have your part to play, it is the prerogative of God to make things grow. Things cannot grow without Him sanctioning it.
“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, nor he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase”1 Cor 3:6
I don’t know your desire this morning ,are you expecting growth in a specific area and it seems not to be happening – God said I should tell you He causes grass to grow ! Have you thought about it? Nobody does any special thing to make grass to grow! Forget grass for a minute, look at yourself, what do you do to orchestrate your growth daily . You just notice that you are growing. What of your child ? What have you done today to make your child to grow! You said Pastor Dada growth is natural. But God says growth is not natural, it is supernatural. It is heavenly engineered, planned and executed. What causes growth is God’s input in man, animal,or plant.
So should I do nothing and expect growth? far from it. I just want you to know that the power for growth is resident in God. They are two ways: you can do all you want to do and it may not grow if God has not ordained it. On the other hand you may do your part in obedience to God and you begin to experience uncommon growth beyond your human imagination!
But the greatest joy that God is bringing to you this morning is the assurance of growth!
The word of God to you this morning is that you don’t need to live your life in anxiety about growth.
“I make grass to grow” says the Lord for the cattle on a thousand hills. “I make herbs to grow for humanity.”
God is saying “I am interested in my creation. I have capacity to meet their needs without the anxieties they carry”. God is saying “I will ensure things grow .It is my duty to make things grow for the right reasons to take care of my creation. Growth is not in the power of man, it is not resident in terrestrial powers but celestial. Human beings can do every exercise to enhance growth but the final result of growth is within me”
What are you looking to God for growth : look at the scriptures as it address the supernatural power of God to cause growth :
1. Growth to the righteous: The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.Psalm 92:12
2. Spiritual growth in faith. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.8 The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Pet 1:4-5
3.Child growth : And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.1 Sam 2:26
4.Financial growth: “Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop, For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity[e] in you.’ 2 Cor 6:6,10
5. Growth in knowledge: sothat we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,’ Eph 4:14
Next step: So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding Heb 6:1
Conclusion :Stop panicking, put your heart at rest, have your peace about growth, whether it be of your ministry, your child, your business, your career, marriage or anything at all. Do whatever God has instructed you to do and put your trust in Him that makes grass to grow for the cattle. Do whatever is needful on your part, pray, engage your business sense, study, and expect growth . Not by your power, not by your might, but by his spirit. I hear the Holy Spirt comforting you, strengthening, encouraging you, teaching you, assuring you, that if I can make grass to grow for the cattle I can cause anything to grow for you in my love and in my power! God shall cause growth to happen for you in the season and in your area of choice. Let us pray. Say : Oh God the scripture says Psalm 104:14 that you cause the grass to grow: Oh God cause. ………to grow.. ( Put whatever you are expecting to grow in that blank) Have faith in Him. Keep your confession and mean it in your heart!I await your testimonies.
